What is Beyond Me?
At Beyond Me we make the assumption that young people will deliver!
If a group of Australian teenagers travel to Africa to work in an orphanage as happened in July this year, in addition to seeing the safari elephants and lions, they will want to make a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged. They will work hard and they will experience something of real life wisdom at the right age. They will carry the Beyond Me experiences with them as they continue to mature and they will essentially be very effective citizens for Australia into the future.
Beyond Me is a Social Venture to challenge our young people to make a difference for others. Our key themes are PROBLEMS PATHWAYS & PROJECTS.
We have our focus at home and overseas.
Our key purpose to assist young people to take their place in finding solutions to the PROBLEMS we know can be solved – poverty, sickness, environment, orphans and education. In a Christian sense, Beyond Me is about sacrifice and selflessness for others, in the footsteps of Christ.
Beyond Me will guide the PATHWAYS by offering a seminar program to schools and groups around Australia in order to train and prepare young people for such projects. The seminars will look at:
- the ME issues – What is my profile, how do I relate to others, how do I react to problems
- the BEYOND ME issues – Where am I am in relation to the 21st century problems whether they are local, national or international problems; what is possible; what are some relevant projects and opportunities for positive action.
Beyond Me has and is establishing links to PROJECTS in Australia, in urban areas and the outback; the Pacific nations, in Asia and Africa, and there will be a fundraising component to the projects to assist others in need.
