Held in the inner-city suburb of Woolloomooloo, we're hosting this event with HopeStreet, an inner city mission who do fantastic work with marginalized people in Sydney every day.
The program includes:
• A street level understanding of homelessness and inner city social issues including mental illness, sex industry, drug and alcohol abuse, problem gambling
• A walking tour of Woolloomooloo and surrounds
• Discussions about community development approaches to marginalised communities
• Exposure to films and pictures and stories that contain confronting content (M rated)
• Sleeping in a locked corridor in the heart of the city’s main rough-sleeping hotspot
• Breakfast on the street, including interactions with locals
All activities will be lead by HopeStreet staff who are experienced in running the Sleepout programme. Participants will be accompanied overnight by BeyondMe staff, with a HopeStreet Staff member on site in case of emergencies. HopeStreet staff have conducted thorough risk management procedures and have an excellent track record of running sleepouts without incident.
